Passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2026, at the age of 86! Devoted
sister of Joan May, and Patty May Zielinski (Edward)! Betty is also survived by three nephews Mike Zielinski (Nicole) Dan Zielinski, David Zielinski (Liv), grand nephews, Micheal Patrick Zielinski, Collin Ryan Edmonds-Zielinski, numerous cousins from both sides of the loving and supportive May/Hughes family and many loving friends!
Betty was welcomed into this world July 13,1939 by her loving parents Ed and Agnes May into the little town of Barrington, NJ. She was active in community activities and enjoyed playing sports and was a member of a team that formed the original Barrington Girls Softball League in 1954. As she matured, she progressed to graduating from Camden Catholic High School, Rowan University where she received her teachings credentials, finishing with a master's degree from Fairleigh Dickerson University. She began her teaching career where she taught in Willingboro School District. then she moved to California for 8 yrs. returning in 1973. Her longest span of teaching was at Marlton Middle School in Marlton NJ, she loved working with the older students, and they loved her as well. On her off times she traveled all over the world even making it to Egypt.
Betty's main passion was golfing where after many years accomplished a "HOLE IN ONE' one of her proudest moments. Her next passions were her cats; they were numerous and her large extended family and her friends! Also, SHE loved "her" Phillies!
Betty will be remembered for her generosity, her fabulous sense of humor and her unique outlook on life. She will be missed!
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be with me!" John 14:3
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Monday morning July 6, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church,300 Kings Highway, Haddon Heights NJ from 10am to 11:45am! Mass will follow at 12!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to Barrington Trap, Neuter and Release,229 Trenton Ave. Barrington, NJ 08007. An organization to help cats!
