Dorothy H. Pawling (nee Hutton), age 93, of Barrington, died peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Charles (Chuck) Pawling and her sister, Eleanor and brothers, Walter and Charles. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Linda McLeod and her son Charles (Corky) Pawling Jr. (Patti), four grandsons, Michael McLeod, Daniel (Kimberly), Christopher (Dana) and David (Danielle) Pawling, and four great-grandchildren, Blake and Bradley McLeod and Olivia and Christopher (CJ) Pawling. Dorothy was mostly a stay at home mom, tending to the twins. Once they entered school, she worked for the Barrington School District as a truant officer and in the cafeteria. Dorothy also served many years as an election poll worker in Barrington. Dorothy grew up as a member of the East Baptist Church in Philadelphia, but after moving to Barrington, became an active member of Barrington’s First Presbyterian Church, where she served many years as its choir director. Most recently Dorothy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights where she was a member of the Friendship Circle. Dorothy was also active in the Barrington Historical Society, serving as its treasurer. She was a long-time member of the Woman’s Club of Barrington and Ladies Auxiliary of the Barrington Fire Company No. 1, where she served as president. Dorothy lived a long happy life, but missed her dear husband after his passing in 1998. She found great joy in attending senior events in town and keeping involved in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. Her family was her greatest joy. Donations in Dorothy’s memory can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights, 28 Seventh Avenue, Haddon Heights, NJ, 08035. Inurnment will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
