Sister Patricia Burns, Daughter of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, passed away peacefully at St. Francis de Sales Convent on Thursday May 31, 2012 surrounded by her loving Community, age 78 yrs. Born in Co. Down, Ireland, Sr. Patricia was the oldest daughter of the late John and Catherine Burns. She is survived by her siblings Bernadette Kelly (late Sean), Angela Roissetter (Ross), Sean Burns (Mary), Stella Slevin (Jimmy), Paddy Burns, Anne Burns (late Gerry) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the Sisters of her beloved Community. Of her 62 years in Religious life, Sr. Patricia served 55 years in various ministries within the U.S. She taught at St. Francis de Sales School, Barrington, where she also became Principal. For several years Sister taught Biology at Camden Catholic H.S., Cherry Hill. The remaining 24 years were spent teaching Microbiology at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ. Relatives, friends and religious are invited to her viewing on Monday from 4:30 to 6:45PM in St. Rita of Cascia Parish, Mary Mother of the Church, 20 Braisington Ave., Bellmawr, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 7PM. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday 10am at the Church. Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
